Expansion

Expansion

76 x 35 x 17"

From the moment we are born,

the world tends to have a

container already built for us

to fit inside: A social security

number, a gender, a race,

a profession or an I.Q. I ponder

if we are more defined by the

container we are in, rather than

what we are inside. Would we

recognize ourselves if we could

expand beyond our bodies?

Would we still be able to exist

if we were authentically

'un-contained'?

To Lee, With love, Nick

Tribute to Alexander McQueen by Nick Knight, music by Björk from SHOWstudio on Vimeo.

WATCH THIS ON FULL SCREEN WITH GOOD SOUND SYSTEM OR HEADPHONES AND THE LIGHTS OFF....TRUST ME!!!

Celebrating the breathtaking imagination and groundbreaking designs of Lee Alexander McQueen, the latest fashion film by Nick Knight pays tribute to McQueen’s sensational creations, stellar career, and most importantly to the man himself. Directed by Knight and set to an exclusive soundtrack by Björk, the film is featured online at SHOWstudio.

‘This film is my way of speaking about a very unique and important person who changed my life. My desire was to speak in some way about the dark and the light contained within Lee, and within us all.’

Icy Art

Here I took a photo through the electric lines for the train towards the embankment. The ice make for great visuals, like art.

A..B..C..... it's easy as a cross-stitch

CMYK Alphabet by-Evelin Kasikov

CMYK Alphabet is a typographic experiment, a set of 26 sans-serif uppercase letterforms on a grid of 5x5 inch. Each letter is hand embroidered using a combination of two overlapping CMYK colours. The colours are halftoned at 90 and 45 degrees and these low resolution screens are turned into handmade cross-stitch embroidery.

Hand Printed 2010 Letterpress Calendar/Art Print

Hand Printed 2010 Letterpress Calendar/Art Print

Description

We hand print these four color calendars, one color at a time on a Vandercook Letterpress machine. Each 8.5x11 piece is carefully printed, taking special care with quality and texture to give an impression you can both see and feel! All pieces are printed on 110 weight Lettra Cranes archival paper. This Calendar acts as a functional art piece and look beautiful in a frame.

To read the calendar:
A diagram is shown as one of the images of the calendar. Each line gives you a different month and at the top of each blossom, the beginning of the week-Sunday. As you move counter clockwise around the blossom, each section is a different day of the week, Monday thru Saturday.

Designed by Sudeshna Pantham.

*Please note that while we strive to maintain consistency, the letterpress process is a handmade one and may vary slightly from print to print. Also, colors may appear slightly different in person than on your computers screen, depending on the screen's calibration.

Sidewalk Art

On the sidewalk in Pedersgata someone has used an angle grinder to cut pictures of the houses next to it. So in the future if their houses are torn down, you can see how their original houses look like. I don't know if it is an art project or just an original thought by someone. It does look interesting walking along the sidewalk and see those small pictures.
